Are we all Europeans? In order to build a shared citizenship, we must first get to know each other better... EVEIL association organizes debates between classes of French pupils and foreign students from the European Union or countries in the process of accession.

This action, called "European citizens, let's debate!" has received the European Year of Citizenship through Education label.

European citizens, let's debate!

Target: secondary schools (9th grade) & high schools (all levels)
Subjects: all
Pedagogical target: tackle Europe by means of a concrete and human experience, thanks to the testimony of young Europeans from other countries.

Content and organization

The invited foreign student gives the class a brief talk on his country and answers pupils' questions. These questions can then lead to a debate moderated by the teacher. Teachers prepare and chair the debate following the student's talk. EVEIL European representatives go to the school with the foreign student and relay the operation to the local media.
